Orange sponge cake: it cooks in just 8 minutes. 140 calories of softness!

Do you suddenly have guests and don't know which dessert to bring to the table? Here is the recipe to prepare an excellent orange sponge cake to be cooked directly in the microwave. This dessert is perfect if you are on a diet because it only contains 140 calories.


To prepare the orange sponge cake, you will need:

  • 250 grams of brown sugar (alternatively you can use 110 grams of sweetener Stevia)
  • 170 grams of flour
  • 70 ml of sunflower oil (olive oil is also fine)
  • 3 whole eggs
  • 1 organic orange
  • 1 sachet of baking powder for the desserts.

For the pan: a little oil or a little butter.

To decorate your cake, you will need:

  • 45 grams of brown sugar
  • Half organic orange.

Making the dough

Take the orange and wash it under running water. Cut the citrus fruit into small pieces without removing the peel and lay them on a plate.

Sift the flour and put it in a bowl. Separately, in the glass of the immersion blender, put the pieces of orange, the three whole eggs, the sugar and the seed oil. Blend until a smooth, homogeneous and lump-free mixture is obtained. Add the flour and continue blending to mix it with the rest of the ingredients. A mixer can also work well for this.

How to make orange sponge cake: baking

Take a mold suitable for cooking in the microwave oven, it is fine with either silicone or glass, and grease it with a little oil or with a piece of butter. Transfer the previously prepared orange mixture. After selecting the 800 W power, cook your dessert for about ten minutes.

When ready, leave the oven and let it cool before removing it from the pan.

Prepare the seal

While the dessert cools, take the half orange and cut it with a knife into very thin slices. Place the slices on a tray and cover them with brown sugar. Place the tray, covered with cling film, in the refrigerator for an hour.

Assemble the cake

Remove the orange sponge cake from the pan and decorate the dessert with the sweetened citrus slices.


You can also cook your sponge cake with orange in the traditional oven, at a temperature of 180 ° C for about 40 minutes.
